A Matter of Fact(s): Journalism

“Journalism still, in a democracy, is the essential force to get the public educated and mobilized to take action on behalf of our ancient ideals.”
– Doris Kearns Goodwin

I am an award-winning freelance journalist and founder of Sentamatic Media focusing on digital and print writing and reporting, copy writing and editing, and consulting. I have more than 20 years of experience covering a wide range of topics including health, popular culture and public safety.

As a former senior investigative reporter and assistant managing editor for E! I spent nearly a decade covering public safety and the criminal justice system as a staff writer for The Arizona Republic.

My work has appeared in Adweek, INTO, USA Today, NBC News, The Today Show, Culminant Health and USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, among others.

I currently serve on the board of directors for the National Lesbian and Gay Journalist’s Association. I am co-chair of the 2018 NLGJA National Convention in Palm Springs and the chair of the annual LA Exclusive fundraising event every summer.
